Historisch

Villa Ehrenfels was built near the end of the 19th century in a village called ‘Soden’, which was part of Prussia. In these days, the villagers made their living by producing saline.  But while working on the salt solution, medicinal springs were found. A health resort was built and a physician began to use the springs for medical supports. It resulted in the visits of more and more guests, who hoped to find recovery from their diseases.

In 1922 Bad Soden was granted the right to the official usage of ‘Bad’ as part of its city name. Further medical institutions and sanatoriums followed in the next decades and transformed the village into a busy health spot. The growing population resulted in the right to call Bad Soden a city in 1947.

By the end of the 20th century, Bad Soden had to follow the change of times again. The health sector declined, but simultaneously the city became a famous place of residence in the growing Rhein-Main area around the financial center Frankfurt.

During all these years, Villa Ehrenfels represented the diverse history like a symbol: it served as a temporary residence for guests – until the very present day.
